Here's a little lap of the GP circuit....
The fast down hill start finnish straight leads you into turn 1 (
Redgate) a relatively fast right hander testing your breaking. Driving hard out of the corner you are already setting yourself up for the entry into another fast right hander (
Hollywood) where you will get your first glimpse of the
long down-hill section that is the famous and unique "
Craner curves". This part of the circuit
takes your breath away as you sweep to the right and then left down, past the Spitfire, to the lowest part of the circuit at

the "
Old Hairpin". Television coverage does the change in elevation no justice - only when you come over the top of Hollywood will you
really feel alive! Out of the "Old Hairpin" you have a
stunning sweeping, fast, double apex left hander back up hill under "Starkeys bridge" at "Schwantz Curve", then scrubbing off lots of speed for your entry into the slower right hander of "McLeans". From here its uphill to the blind entry of coppice where you really need to know where your'e going as your exit speed here is vital to avoid being swallowed up down the long "Starkeys straight", under the
famous Dunlop bridge. Faster bikes will feel the
front wheel lifting a little under power over the crest before breaking hard and changing down through the gears into the tight "Esses" chicane. Then its back on the gas hard for the drive down to the "Melbourne Hairpin" (affectionately known as the beer can, where they television coverage get that great close sweeping camera angle as they round the hairpin), for 180 degree knee scraping action. Then a short straight along the back of the paddock to the final race winning left hand corner at "Goddards".
